David qualified as a chartered accountant in 1990 with big-four firm KPMG. He left KPMG in 1992 to work in the private training sector, delivering lectures to accountancy students across the world in taxation, economics and strategic management.

In 2001 David set up eba, with the aim of building an accountancy practice that would deliver something different. His ethos has always involved helping UK business owners to start, grow, scale and exit their businesses tax-efficiently.

A creative, strategic thinker, David loves to immerse himself in clients’ business models and has guided many clients all the way from start-up to multi-million pound exits.

Mike is Senior Partner at eba, helping clients unlock the most valuable insights from their accounts to drive smart business decisions. Behind the scenes, he keeps the firm running smoothly with efficient processes and systems so the team can deliver their best work.

Outside of work, you’ll find Mike travelling to new spots, out running or walking the dog, Ralph.

Jonny works across operations, people, and client experience, focusing on shaping the firm’s growth the right way - with strong foundations, consistency, and culture at its core.

His background as a two-time business founder in web design and software gives him a practical, hands-on understanding of what makes businesses work.

Away from eba, he’s a former British karting champion and leads Valor Racing, competing at the top level of global rental kart racing.

Phoebe is the Client and Operations Manager at eba and plays a key role in supporting both clients and colleagues across the practice. She oversees client onboarding, making sure new clients are welcomed properly and settle into the firm smoothly. She also provides guidance and support on Self Assessment matters, and works closely with the team to keep operations running efficiently while holding the high standard of service the practice is known for.

Phoebe graduated from Manchester Metropolitan University with a BA (Hons). Outside of work she enjoys reading and spending time walking, and is the proud owner of three cats who keep life lively when she’s away from the office.

Andrew began his accountancy career in 1982 and, after spending several years managing accountancy practices, joined eba in 2004. Andrew’s main roles within the business are providing support to other staff and assisting with the preparation of accounts for some of our larger clients.

He is a keen DIYer and loves the outdoors, spending most of his spare time hiking and holidaying with his wife Ellie in their camper van.

Andrew Murphy is a Senior Accountant who works closely with clients to help keep their accounts running smoothly and stress-free. He supports businesses by building strong relationships with clients and making the numbers feel straightforward and manageable.

Outside of the office, Andrew enjoys travelling, getting stuck into DIY projects, and following football. As a dedicated season ticket holder at Manchester United, you’ll often find him at Old Trafford cheering them on.

Emily joined the team at eba in 2025 and works on annual and interim accounts, in addition to managing some of our clients’ VAT work.

It’s important to her that our clients feel in charge and clued-in on the services we provide and she hopes to alleviate any stress or burden from the accounting process from clients, in order to allow them to focus their attention on doing what they love.

Outside of work, Emily loves to cook and bake for family and friends.

Clay is a Xero Bookkeeper at eba and works closely with clients on their bookkeeping and VAT returns. He enjoys keeping things organised and up to date, and is always happy to help with any VAT questions or client queries.

Clay is currently working towards his AAT qualification, continuing to build his knowledge and develop his skills within accounting. He is keen to progress in the profession and is focused on expanding his expertise to support clients even more effectively as his career develops.

Outside of work, Clay plays rugby and enjoys spending time outdoors, whether that’s hiking in the countryside or heading to the coast for a surf.

Since starting her accountancy career in 1983, Ellie has worked in both accountancy practices and the industry sector.

Whilst her family was young she joined eba in 2002 and now, as a qualified Tax Technician (MATT), is part of the Self Assessment team. She also assists in accounts preparation.

Beata is a payroll professional with extensive experience supporting businesses and clients with their payroll requirements.

She works closely with clients to ensure payroll is processed accurately and on time, while keeping up to date with the latest HMRC guidance and payroll legislation.

Known for her attention to detail and practical approach, Beata helps employers feel confident that their payroll is handled correctly.

Outside of work, Beata enjoys staying active through weightlifting, and loves travelling and exploring new places, often heading off on trips in her campervan.

Aleksandra plays a key role in the day-to-day running of payroll operations, ensuring payroll data is processed accurately and efficiently. She supports the preparation and review of payroll information, maintains payroll records, and assists clients with queries relating to payroll processes and reporting.

With a strong eye for detail and a methodical approach, Aleksandra helps ensure payroll runs smoothly and reliably for clients.

Outside of work, Aleksandra enjoys long walks with her dog and maintaining an active lifestyle.

Maria looks after clients’ bookkeeping, recording and reconciling their transactions in Xero so the figures stay accurate and up to date, month by month, and ready when they are needed.

Carrie manages the office administration at eba, keeping the paperwork, records and systems in order and making sure clients’ accounts are filed properly and on time.
