Our story
The story of how eba has grown and evolved over the years.
Company Inception
Following on from his career with Big Four firm KPMG in Manchester, David went on to spend several years training accountancy students to pass their ICAEW, CIMA and ACCA examinations. Then, in 2001, he set up eba, initially working from a converted garage at his home in Cheadle Hulme.
2001
Milestone 1
The first office. The first hire.
With eba expanding, we moved to an office in Gatley, near Cheadle. The recruitment process started, with current team member Ellie being the first on board – and she’s still here!
2004
Milestone 2
Growing into something bigger.
With the headcount continuing to grow, eba took up residence at the Regus serviced office centre close to Manchester Airport, expanding into ever-larger offices within the centre as we continued to grow. This was also the year that we started acting for a newly-incorporated client which would go on to become our largest.
2008
Milestone 3
A home of our own.
With growth continuing, and after a twelve-year relationship with Regus, eba moved into its own premises in Knutsford, Cheshire. Our beautiful, converted barn is where we are based today.
2020
Milestone 4
A result worth remembering.
After being heavily involved in the growth and success of our largest client, for whom we had acted since 2008, eba helped the owners to exit their business for a total price of well into eight figures.
2022
Milestone 4
A new chapter begins.
With Mike Scott appointed as Senior Partner and Jonny Elliott joining as Business Development Director, 2026 marks the start of a new chapter for eba. The foundations David built over 25 years remain firmly in place. What comes next is built on top of them.
